Combination Screens

Here is the fix to run EccoPro on WinXP without administrative privileges. Someone might not be comfortible to edit the registry. It is a bit terse, but hopefully an IT Person or a person able to to set file permissions and edit the Registry will be able to follow it:

Log in as admin and install Ecco.

Run the program one time as the administrator. This creates a couple of files in the Windows folder which won't be created if you run it the first time as a regular user.

Set the permissions on the following files:
Hint: Click on Windows Help and search for "Set file permissions"!
C:\Windows\ECCO.ALM
C:\Windows\ECCO.CFX
C:\Windows\ECCO.FDB

Permissions:
Read Permissions
Read Attributes
Read Extended Attributes
Create Files / Write Data
Create Folders / Append Data
Write Atributes
Write Extended Attributes

Set the following permissions in the Registry:
Warning: Search "Windows Registry" in Windows Help and read it carefully!
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
Create Subkey (this allows a regular user to create the .eco key)
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ecc
Delete permission
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\eco
Delete permission
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ect
Delete permission
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mtg
Delete permission
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NetManage Ecco Pro
Set Value
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NetManage EccoPro Mtg Mail
Set Value
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NetManage\Ecco
Set Value
Create Subkey
