Important Notes: Log into Windows as Administrator. Unzip the files by using folder names to the root of your c-drive (C:\). This should create the "C:\EccoPro" Folder with a sub-folder called "EccoFileSystem". Now copy the files inside the EccoFileSystem folder to the same directories as unpacked. To automate the process for the different operating systems double-click/execute/run one of the following Batch files in the C:\EccoPro Folder: (Important: In Vista right-click the "bat" file and choose the option: "Run as Administrator"!) WinXP.bat (Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or SP3) Vista32.bat (Microsoft Vista 32-bit) Vista64.bat (Microsoft Vista 64-bit) Next: Double-Click/Run/Execute the "EccoPro.reg" file or import the file per start->run->regedit to add all Registry Entries and reboot your computer. Make sure you backup any files in the "C:\Windows\System" folder (Windows XP) in case they are replaced and you have to restore the originals. For details inspect the original "install.log" or make a note of the unzipped files. The Vista installations require different folder names. The "NetManage ECCO Pro" folder will be copied to: "c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs". To make the "ProgramData" folder visible click on Organize->Folders and Search Options->View->Show hidden Files and Folders and you will find the C:\ProgramData folder. Additionally, Vista 64-bit requires a different program folder for 32-bit programs. Instead of using the folder "Program Files" all necessary EccoPro program files will be copied to the sub-folder "ECCO" of the "Program Files (x86)" folder. Vista uses stronger security. To avoid the "Can't write to file" error right-click your ".eco" data file and set the Permission for "All Users" to "Full Control". If you share synchronized copies of .eco do the same in your local "Ecconet" folder for the files ending in .ECG .ECB .bk1 and .bk2.
