Important Notes: If you are not already logged in as owner with administrative privileges log into Windows as Administrator. Unzip the files to your local C-Drive and start the 32-bit installation by double-clicking the "EccoPro 32 - Installation.msi". The 32-bit package will install all necessary registry entries including the Palm conduits, the new "Ecco32.exe.manifest" file plus the "default.ect" template fix. If you would like to use the "Help" menu option please start and install additionally the for Vista and Windows 7 necessary 32-bit MS Help programs available in their respective folders in the main "Ecco" Program directory. If you plan to hotsync your Palm device after a Palm Desktop installation with EccoPro please right click the HotSync Manager icon, adjust the "Settings" for "Applications"(click "Show details") and set the actions for the corresponding Palm Desktop applications to "Do nothing". There is no need to edit the Windows Registry. If you used the Palm HotSync before your upgrade please see "http://www.compusol.org/ecco/hotsync.html". Here is how our new one-click Installer works: The Vista/Windows 7 installations require different folder names. The "NetManage ECCO Pro" folder will be copied to: "c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\ Start Menu\Programs". Additionally, 64-bit installations require a different program folder for 32-bit programs. Instead of using the folder "Program Files" all necessary EccoPro program files will be copied to the sub-folder "ECCO" of the "Program Files (x86)" folder. If you upgrade from an older version, make sure you uninstall EccoPro first. After the new installation copy your old Ecco Data file into the main ECCO folder under "Program Files (x86)". Windows 7 uses enhanced file and folder security settings. Our new Installer takes care of all permissions for you. Should you get the "Can't write to file" permission error right-click your ".eco" data file, click on Properties, go to the Security tab and edit the permissions for "Users" to "Full Control". If you share synchronized copies of ".eco" do the same in your local "Ecconet" or "Eccoshare" folder for the files ending in .ECG .ECB .bk1 and .bk2.
